Discover BYOND Canarias
BYOND Canarias develops materials and solutions through its own laboratory and 3D manufacturing facilities, supported by on-site experience and technical advice.

Our history
Our beginnings in surfacing
BYOND Canarias has worked with seamless surfacing and waterproofing since the 1990s. We began by looking for solutions to the practical requirements we encountered: adapting systems to each space, making application easier and achieving carefully considered finishes.
On-site experience and close work with technical specialists and other professionals helped us understand what needed to improve and where we could make progress.
Zoruflex: a response to real requirements
That search led to Zoruflex, a range developed to meet different industry requirements. We wanted adaptable systems that could be applied efficiently, with an elegant finish suited to different spaces.
The range evolved through formulations and applications for seamless and preformed surfacing, and road safety. Experience from each project continues to inform its development and improvement.
Our own R&D and innovation department and laboratory
As the company grew, research became part of the way we work. We established our own R&D and innovation department and laboratory to formulate, mix and study materials, test their strength and behaviour, and improve our products.
The laboratory connects the problems we observe on site with the development and manufacture of new solutions.
Recovered glass opens up new possibilities
Today we incorporate recycled glass in Zoruflex, Byo Eco Continuo Natural and the resins we manufacture in the Canary Islands, and we are working to extend it to compatible applications. ByoGlass is our material in development for 3D printing. Its formulation incorporates recycled glass and volcanic ash, with the aim of reducing the cement required and replacing virgin aggregates with reused materials.
This work also led us to become waste managers and to connect materials recovery with laboratory research and production.

Larger-scale projects across the islands
As we grew, we became involved in larger-scale projects in the Canary Islands, particularly in public spaces using Zoruflex. Projects such as the Las Palmas Cruise Terminal are part of that development.
These projects allow us to use materials under real operating conditions and keep learning from their application, their surroundings and the requirements of the people using each space.
The same approach, extending to the sea
Materials development and our own 3D manufacturing opened up opportunities beyond surfacing. BYOND Technology brings together digital design and additive manufacturing, making large-format pieces and geometries adapted to different uses possible.
Through BYO Reefs 3D, we extend our research to the marine environment. We design and manufacture structures intended to offer shelter and settlement surfaces for organisms. We study their behaviour and colonisation at Banco Español de Algas, and introduce the project to the public through an exhibition at Aquarium Lanzarote.
Continuing to develop solutions
Today, Zoruflex, BYO Reefs 3D and BYOND Technology share the same approach: improving existing systems, making processes more efficient and working towards more sustainable solutions. Experience on land and marine research are part of a shared journey that we continue to build from the Canary Islands.
