The work carried out

  The problem

Once the various defects had been identified, the construction department examined the best approach to working in a challenging area, as the hotel could not close and the resins had a very tight setting time:

  • Tiles in poor condition, with cracking caused by heavy trolley traffic and impacts.
  • Frequent slipping due to areas not meeting the c-3 slip-resistance rating.
  • Dirt caused by the flooring joints, where waste accumulates and gives the impression of poor cleanliness.

  The solution

The solution proposed to the investment department was to divide the area into three zones of 82 m2. In this way, we organised a system that allowed us to complete the application in two days without needing to close the kitchen.

With this procedure, we met all the owner's requirements: not to interrupt any kitchen shift and not to produce any odour that could contaminate the raw ingredients present:

  • 1st day: we entered at 21:00 h and began grinding, after which we would vacuum up all the dust and begin priming the entire surface. Once this stage was complete, we waited 5 hours for the resin to dry. Once it had set, the maintenance team was instructed to protect the entire treated area with cardboard to prevent oil or grease spills.
  • 2nd day: application of fast-drying, odourless resin. Once dry (1 hour and a half), application of a protective sealer.
