Details and application conditions

What is Byotermic?

It is an elastomeric coating that enables the creation of reflective cool roofs and roof coverings.

What are the features of Byotermic?
  • Prevents buildings from overheating.
  • Helps achieve a comfortable temperature in homes.
  • Significant energy savings on heating and cooling by breaking thermal bridges.
  • Mitigation of the Heat Island Effect in cities.
  • Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Byotermic for waterproofing

It can be used as a leak-prevention coating on terraces and roofs.

It is a fibre-containing material that does not require mesh reinforcement.

How do you waterproof with Byotermic?

Follow these steps for waterproofing:

  1. Apply 200gr/m2 of Byopox Preimper by roller.
  2. Apply several coats of Byotermic Grano Grueso by trowel or spray gun until a consumption of 1,8l/m2 is achieved. If a smoother finish is required, apply Byotermic Grano Fino by trowel.
  3. To prevent the surface from becoming dirty, a coat of Byopur Barniz is recommended.
Byotermic as a textured façade coating

It can be applied as a façade paint with a textured finish. Follow these steps:

  1. Apply Byotermic Grano Fino diluted with 15 - 20% water.
  2. Apply by roller at an approximate consumption of 300gr/m2 per coat.
Heat Island Effect

City centres reach higher temperatures than the surrounding rural areas. Each +1ºC means a 2 - 4% increase in energy demand.

urban heat island

Causes
  • Removal of green spaces.
  • High building density that restricts wind movement (convection).
  • Presence of pollutants ( vehicles, industrial areas, ... ).
  • Use of air conditioning ( cooling interiors but releasing heat into the atmosphere ).
  • Materials such as concrete and asphalt absorb heat and do not reflect radiation efficiently ( low albedo ).
Results with Byotermic application

Byotermic

Byotermic lowers the temperature inside homes, helping achieve comfortable temperatures, reducing the use of air conditioning and helping to eliminate the vicious circle shown in the diagram, mitigating the urban heat island effect and the greenhouse effect.
